Fieldend is a private estate with private parking bays for residents. The bays are on private land, and the bays on the entrance road have been marked with “Reserved” signs to discourage illegal parking.
The Fieldend entrance/perimeter road is not a private road, it has been adopted by the council. Adopted roads are maintained and the public expense. The Highway Management Group maintains the road and is responsible for:
The road has a traffic regulation order (TRO), a legal order, which prohibits the use of all motor vehicles (except for access) on the public highway. There are 2 illuminated signs on the entrance road informing motorists of this restriction, unfortunately, they are routinely ignored. The traffic order restricts use of the road (including parking) to Fieldend residents and their visitors (personal/trade/delivery etc).
Motorists using the road illegitimately can be prosecuted under Section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
If you are concerned about parking on the Fieldend entrance road or the double yellow lines on Waldedgrave Pk then you can report illegal parking and idling vehicles:
The enforcement team will then contact the officer in the area to attend ASAP.
FRAL are aware of the ongoing problem with parking on the Fieldend entrance road in violation of the traffic order. The board are in regular contact with Newland House School and St Mary’s university asking them to discourage their parents/students/staff from parking in Fieldend.
Residents' Parking Permits: In 2015 Fieldend Parking Permit discs were introduced. Please contact the board if you need a new permit,
