Looking After Your House
The Residents’ Association is keen to support everyone connected with Fieldend in their effort to look after the external appearance of the houses. To this end, a booklet titled “Looking after the outside of your house” has been produced, informing residents how best to maintain and repair the outside of their house.

Fascia board replacement: In October 2017 the FRAL board issued guidance on a suitable replacement for the original asbestos fascia board. To read this guidance click here.
Satellite Dishes: Following a vote at the FRAL 2012 AGM it was decided that the installation of satellite dishes should be permitted subject to the approval of the FRAL board. Click here for details.
Porch Glass: Following a vote at the FRAL 2009 AGM diffused white laminate glass was approved as a replacement for the glazing of Fieldend porches. Click here for more details.
Garage doors: The appearance of Fieldend garage areas is deteriorating and new doors are often a poor match for the originals. If you are considering getting a new garage door, you need FRAL's permission to change its appearance. However repair is likely to be a much better and cheaper solution. Details of local companies who can help can be found on the Useful Contacts page.
Any changes to the outside of your house may require planning permissions and should be discussed with the committee before work commences. Please refer to the Planning pages on the website.
Many Fieldenders use trusted tradesmen for external and internal work:
Maintaining and restoring the original features of your house will help you maintain and even increase its value.
FRAL is keen to provide a resource for residents who want to replace fixtures and fitting with modern equivalents as close to the original design as possible. Please let the committee know if you find other similar products which we can add to the list.
